About the Undersheriff

Undersheriff Dennis Garton began his law enforcement career in March of 1970, and has been serving the citizens of Tehama County since 1978. 

He assumed his current position in 1996 as second-in-command of the department.  His primary function is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the agency. As a secondary duty, Undersheriff Garton researches and develops new programs; such as the jail’s new computerized inmate management system. 

Residing in Dairyville with wife Jeannie, Undersheriff Garton is an avid horseman and enjoys touring the western states on his motorcycle.
