Concealed Weapons Permits

Sheriff-Coroner Dave Hencratt supports the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. In this regard, all qualified residents of Tehama County are eligible to apply for a permit to carry concealed weapons.

The criteria for this permit are as follows:

    • Must be 18 years of age
    • Must be a United States citizen
    • Must be a full-time resident of Tehama County, however not a resident of the city limits of Red Bluff or Corning.
    • Must have completed a course of at least 4 hours in duration in firearms safety and the lawful use of a firearm
    • Approved Firearm Safety Courses (see list below)
    • Must have no felony convictions, convictions of any offense involving the use of a firearm, or any convictions for any offense involving the use of force or violence

Those interested persons meeting the above qualifications may obtain an application in person at the Tehama County Sheriff’s Department, Records Division, located at 22840 Antelope Boulevard in Red Bluff; between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. Monday though Friday.

Four-Year Reserve Peace Officer CCW Renewal $99.00

To schedule an appointment for CCW applications, renewals, or changes, please call 530-529-7940. 

All fees are non-refundable. Applicants are electronically fingerprinted and this information is transmitted to the Department of Justice to verify identification and to insure that there are no disqualifying arrests or convictions. Within 60-90 days, clearance is received from the Department of Justice, and the applicant is contacted for an interview and final clearance for the permit by the Sheriff or his designee. 

 

Approved Firearm Safety Training Courses
Pursuant to 12050(E)(ii) PC -
Initial permit shall be no less than twelve (12) hours training
Renewal permit shall be no less than
four (4) hours training every two years
