Remembering John . . .

I remember when we came out with Ethan when I was pregnant with Hannah and John took Ethan out and put him on the tractor and carried him around the yard. John was such a larger than life kind of man, but had a huge heart for his children and grandchildren.  That's what I cherished the most about him, his hard exterior but soft heart for those he loved. ~ Terrell Dillon, step daughter, NC

My daddy would be so proud to be part of the continuing education of a hard working student.  He expected the best out of everyone and he would be honored to know that this scholarship would help someone achieve their goals.  He was an excellent example of how hard work and dedication pays off.  He is my inspiration.  I hear his voice every time I think I can’t finish something I’ve started.  It has been this way my entire life.  I cared the most about what he thought of me and I yearned to please him at every step and that is why I miss him so.  May this scholarship give someone the boost they need to fulfill their dreams; my daddy would be so pleased to be a part of their hard work and commitment! ~ Thank you, Toni Schultzman (John’s Daughter)

As for me, John was a gentle giant.  He always protected me, he put me on a pedestal and protected me from falling.  He always "had my back" and made sure that I was appreciated and respected, especially when it came to my music...He was my biggest fan.  I knew he loved me, usually because of what other people told  me, not because of what John told me himself...his compliments always came back to me through those he spoke with and they were amazed at how much affection he had for me.  I was blessed with 32 years with this man and the fact that a scholarship is being set up in his honor is such a blessing.  May the recipient (s) of this scholarship be proud and wear his name with honor and do it justice. ~Laurie Davis

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies--in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." -- 1 Peter 4:10-11
